Ferencvaros 2-3 Celtic: Bhoys win five-goal thriller in Hungary to boost qualification hopes

Kyogo Furuhashi, Jota and Liel Abada were on target for Celtic as they beat Ferencvaros 3-2 in Hungary on Thursday to boost their hopes of making the Europa League knockout stages.

Furuhashi opened the scoring in an entertaining first half, finding the bottom-left corner inside the first three minutes, but a Josip Juranov own goal – deflected in from Oleksandr Zubkov s effort – saw Ferencvaros level the scores.

Jota lashed a terrific strike in off the post from long distance to restore the Bhoys advantage later in the first half, and Abada added a third on the hour mark after some neat build-up play from the visitors before Myrto Uzuni pulled one back for Ferencvaros late on.

The result sees Ferencvaros eliminated from the group as their wait for a point g…

Andre Silva seals permanent move to Eintracht Frankfurt from Milan

Andre Silva has completed a permanent move from Milan to Eintracht Frankfurt.

The Portugal striker spent last season on loan with the Bundesliga club, scoring 16 goals in all competitions.

The 24-year-old has now signed a three-year deal with Frankfurt, much to the delight of sporting director Fredi Bobic.

Over the last few months we ve seen what Andre s capable of, he said via the club s website.

Steve Cooper ‘proud’ of Nottingham Forest’s young trumpeter Caiden Storry

Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper praised young musician Caiden Storry after he could not complete the Last Post ahead of the 2-0 win over Aston Villa.

Storry was consoled by both sets of players and Cooper, before being given a standing ovation by the City Ground after failing to finish the famous tune that marks Armistice Day celebrations.

Cooper says the club will reach out to the 16-year-old, who is a Forest fan, and said everyone was proud of him.

“I’ve got a 15-year-old boy and I love it when he shows confidence to do things because it isn’t always easy in this era we live in,” Cooper said.

“For a 16-year-old boy who’s a fan to stand in the middle and do that and do it brilliantly as well, he should be really proud and we are proud.

Chelsea 2 Tottenham 0: Spurs title hopes unravelling

Tottenham were left red-faced as a pair of sloppy goals dealt a significant blow to their Premier League title hopes in a 2-0 defeat at Chelsea on Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Hugo Lloris allowed a Pedro strike to sneak between his legs just short of the hour, before a miscommunication between the France international and Kieran Trippier saw the full-back roll a backpass into an open net.

Coming on the back of Saturday s 2-1 defeat to Burnley, the loss leaves Spurs eight points adrift of second-place Manchester City and nine off leaders Liverpool.

For Chelsea, who dropped Kepa Arrizabalaga in favour of Willy Caballero following the former s refusal to be subbed during the EFL Cup final, the result is the perfect response to their Wembley defeat against City on Sunday…

Ibrahimovic could play forever, says Pioli on eve of Milan striker´s 40th birthday

Zlatan Ibrahimovic will remain sidelined for Milan s trip to Atalanta on Sunday, but head coach Stefano Pioli says the ageless striker could play forever .

The Sweden international has featured only once for Milan since undergoing knee surgery in June and was on the scoresheet in that 2-0 win over Lazio on September 12.

Either side of a two-year spell in MLS with LA Galaxy, Ibrahimovic has not played more than 19 games in a single league campaign in European football since 2016-17 in his first of two seasons with Manchester United.

Prior to his recent injury lay-off, though, he was a key player under Pioli as he registered 25 goals in 37 Serie A games between his second debut for the club on January 6, 2020 and the end of last season.

That is a tally bet…
